Pavan Kumar Asur
Computation Mechanics, Fracture Mechanics
Hello there, I’m Dr. Pavan Kumar Asur. I am a postdoc at the Institute of Lightweight Design and Structural Biomechanics (ILSB) at TU Wien, Austria. I completed my PhD at IMT School for Advanced studies Lucca, Italy in Computational Mechanics under the guidance of Prof. Marco Paggi and University of Seville, Spain in Industrial Engineering under the co-supervision of Prof. Jose Reinoso. Post receiving my Doctoral degree in June 2022. I was awarded the best PhD Thesis from GMA-GIMC Italy in 2023. I did my joint master's degree (2016-2018) from Erasmus Mundus “MathMods: Mathematical Modelling in Engineering” with the University of L’Aquila(UAQ), Italy, University of Hamburg (UHH), Germany, and the Autonomous University of Barcelona(UAB), Spain with majors in Numerics of Partial Differential Equations.
Research Interests
I am passionate about developing mathematical and computational tools for multi-physics modeling. I am particularly interested in phase field modeling of fracture, numerical methods for coupled PDEs, topology optimization, machine learning methods for mechanics, and constitutive modeling of materials. I work on developing new models and numerical methods to simulate the behavior of materials under different conditions.
